Integrating Technology and Compassion in Healthcare: Insights from BLDE University VC
In todays rapidly evolving medical landscape, technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning, is becoming crucial in enhancing healthcare. Dr Arun Inamdar, Vice-Chancellor of BLDE University, recently highlighted the indispensable role of advanced technology and compassionate care during his address at the fourth convocation ceremony of SDM University held in Dharwad.
The Role of Technology in Modern Medicine
Dr Inamdar stressed that the integration of AI and Machine Learning into healthcare professions is no longer optional but essential. These technologies offer tremendous support to medical professionals, improving diagnosis, treatment accuracy, patient monitoring, and overall healthcare delivery.
However, he warned that technology alone cannot replace the human element in medicine. Continuous improvement in expertise, specialization, and practical skills among doctors and healthcare professionals remains pivotal.
Compassion: The Heart of Medical Care
Emphasizing the importance of patient care, Dr Inamdar underlined that providing healthcare with patience and empathy should be every doctors foremost responsibility. Regardless of technological advances, compassionate care remains the cornerstone of effective medical treatment.
Dedication and Purpose in Medical Education
During the convocation ceremony, degrees were awarded to 397 undergraduate students, 180 postgraduate students, and seven PhD scholars from various constituent institutions of SDM University.
Dr Inamdar encouraged students to focus on purposeful, sincere efforts, advising them against comparisons with others. He noted that consistent dedication leads to success and the realization of dreams.
Balanced Approach: Quality Care and Stress Management
SDM University Vice-Chancellor, Dr Niranjankumar, highlighted that medical institutions should prioritize quality treatment for all, regardless of financial status, and provide excellent training to their students. He cautioned against viewing medical education and practice as mere commercial enterprises.
